Hospital Bag Essentials
Cheat Sheet to a Smoother Delivery
-
Camis/Tank-tops if you would prefer not wearing the provided hospital gown. One comfortable outfit to go home in. This can include maternity pjs, a robe, or comfy sweats. Don't forget to bring a pair of socks and slippers or sneakers/flip-flops for your trip home.
-
Bring some of your favorite snacks, whatever those might be! You may or may not be able to eat during labor. Snacks can include crackers, candy, etc. Just make sure that the snacks are light. Your partner may want to bring some snacks as well.
Also, pack breathmints!
-
If you decide to pack a pillow, use a pillow case that is NOT white. The hospital uses white pillow cases for their pillows and you do not want them getting mixed up! You could also pack a neck pillow. Lastly, this is less comfort and more policy but make sure to bring your ID and insurance card!
-
Chapstick, deodorant, face wipes, facial moisturizer, shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo,
hair brush, hair ties, and a hair dryer.
-
Car Seat! They will not let you leave the hospital without one. The hospital should provide most everything else for your baby including diapers, an outfit, and hat. You may also find comfort in bringing a pacifier.
