Durham Women’s Clinic offers our patients an Advanced Patient Care Team with years of experience and extensive training.
For our obstetrical patients, we have midwives that specialize in obtaining and documenting early-pregnancy medical histories of the patient and father of the baby as well as answering questions related to early pregnancy. They provide early pregnancy education on many different matters including medications taken during pregnancy, when to call the doctor or midwife and what is safe and unsafe during pregnancy. They also review and discuss vaccinations, nutrition, weight gain, exercise, tobacco and alcohol use and traveling while pregnant.
For our obstetrical patients with abnormal glucose tolerance testing, our providers and staff are trained to provide initial instruction on dietary recommendations and diabetic glucose monitoring. We also have an amazing nutritionist on staff (Leah Williams) to help you with your dietary needs. Leah educates our patients on the importance of nutrition and she teaches patients how to monitor their nutritional intake. Leah also sees patients that are having issues with their weight. Patients are able to schedule appointments with our nutritionist through our portal or by calling (919)471-2273.
Our triage nurse and care coordinator can be reached at (919 )471-2273 ext. 270 or through our patient portal. They are available to assist patients with medical questions in addition to prescription refills, questions about medications, labs and/or test results. As a care coordinator, our triage nurse also helps to coordinate care for our patients' needs with other specialists in the area and follows up with the patients and specialists to verify all of their needs are met and satisfied.
Our ultrasonographers are Joanie Chapman, Marsha Daniels, Shaquira Thornton, and Dena Smith. They are registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. They perform GYN and OB ultrasounds, nuchal translucency, sonohystograms and 3D obstetrical ultrasounds. Joanie has an open line of communication with the providers to ensure proper images and reporting are available.
Our providers and staff are dedicated to serving the patients’ needs by offering exceptional care. We hope that we can exceed your expectations at Durham Women's Clinic with our compassionate and friendly staff.
